Optimizing Asphalt Production through Comprehensive Data Analysis

In this project, we aimed to enable the customer to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of asphalt production. We achieved this by offering in-depth insights derived from the analysis of their production process data. The key phases of our work included:

  1. Comprehensive Process Modeling:

    • We modeled the entire production process, capturing every component, variable, and resource involved.
  2. Identifying Value-Driven Data Insights:

    • Through a thorough analysis, we determined which data insights could yield the most significant value to the production process.
  3. Statistical Analysis of Key Indicators:

    • Conducting in-depth statistical analysis, we identified crucial indicators influencing gas usage, including:
      • Start-up order identification
      • Temperature variations in burners across production steps
      • Percentage of recycled asphalt in the recipe
      • Allocation of specific resources in the recipe
      • Categorization of large versus small orders
  4. Dashboard Development:

    • We delivered a comprehensive dashboard facilitating both visual and statistical analysis of the identified indicators.
    • Specific dashboards were designed to provide insights into:
      • Production data trends over time (orders, size, recipes, resource utilization, gas consumption, efficiency)
      • Gas consumption per order
      • Analysis of asphalt recipes, comparing actual versus planned resource utilization, along with associated costs.

The end product not only enabled our customer to take the next step towards data driven decisions and gaining a deep understanding of the production dynamics but also provided actionable insights for optimizing gas usage, resource allocation, and overall operational efficiency.
